Rain in Al Ain!

Ok, so it raining... you may not think it's a big deal but it kinda is considering it typically only rain less than 10 days each year here! Im very excited to see the rain. It actually been going on for the past few days and hopefully for another couple of days as well. I've been sitting by the window watching the lightning and listening to the thunder. Never thought I would miss it this much! We've been trying to stay home as much as possible because since it rains so little here, people are not at all used to driving in it. Safer to stay in and avoid accidents!

Al Ain Raceway

Pictures of the Raceway in Al Ain. The raceway is a lot of fun, but a bit expensive. This time I sat out to take a few photos. For some reason the camera was acting up and a lot of the photos came out blurry.

Al Ain Zoo

A great day at the Al Ain Zoo! The Al Ain Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the entire Gulf region. It took about 2 hours to walk through the entire zoo which houses many different types of animals from all over the world. There is a cathouse with lions, pumas, tigers and leopards to name a few. Also a reptile house with snakes, turtles and lizards. The best one in my opinion was the monkey and gorilla compound. We had a great time and best of all it only costs 15 dirhams for adults which is a little over 4 dollars and free parking!

Green Mubazzarah, Al Ain

A few photos the of the Green Mubazzarah which is located at the northern base of Jebel Hafeet. There were so many people at the park this weekend since it was a holiday weekend but it was great to see the view of all the greenery from this park. The weather was beautiful so many families were taking advantage of the gorgeous day by setting up picnics and BBQ grills. There is also a hot spring located here at the Green Mubazzarah and some say that in the morning, close to 7:00 am, the water is almost boiling. We were not there that early though :)

Al Ain Aerobatics Show 2009

These photos were taken at the Al Ain Aerobatics Air Show on January 31, 2009. The show was fantastic. It took many attempts to get a good picture of the airplanes because they were flying by so fast but I eventually managed to get that photo at the top. Those were some very highly skilled pilots. Mercedes-Benz was a sponsor of the show so they had the new GLK on display and you could actually drive up that ramp.

Abu Dhabi

A few photos of Abu Dhabi. It is a great city and offers so much to do. Mostly shopping but there are also gorgeous beaches, the water looks amazing.

Al Ain

Hello from Al Ain! This is a picture of the lovely building that I am currently living in. Picture was taken on a very beautiful day. Hope you enjoy the rest of my page!

Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain

These pictures were taken on a night we drove up to the peak of Jebel Hafeet, one of the highest mountains in the UAE. The road that leads to the peak is aligned with many lights and from ground level at night looks really beautiful. The winding road leads you to the Hotel Mercure which is near the top of the mountain. We stopped and took a few photos of the gorgeous hotel as well as a photo of the view of the city of Al Ain from the top of the mountain. There is also an extensive winding cave system that runs through Jebel Hafeet.

Al Ain Oasis

Al Ain Oasis is one of seven oases in the city. It features gorgeous date palms that have been conserved for many years for date farming. There are also small old style houses, mosques and even a restaurant within the oasis. We went driving around and it is easy to get lost as the pathways are very intricate and narrow.
